The occult, folklore, mythology and religion are the inspiration that drives the collage work of Lucy Nurnberg.  The series A Geography of Death shown below explores burial rites and customs from around the world.

I’m into the stories that people believe in, the magic that lies behind everything in life.

Nurnberg constructs succinct pictorial narratives in a single image through her use of popular recognisable symbolism and iconography of religion and myth.

Her interpretation of Saint John’s Seven Seals of Revelation, of which the following three images are taken from, are in keeping with this narrative symbolism and her exploration of the spiritual.

Nurnberg is now working as an assistant to fellow illustrator Laurie Rosenwald in New York.
