John Le Carré’s American publisher Penguin reissued new editions of his back catalogue
to coincide with the release of his new book Our Kind of Traitor.
Brighton based illustrator Matt Taylor worked closely with designer Greg Kulick
and art director Paul Buckley to produce seven covers.
Below you can see the seven covers, four with type treatment and three without.
Matt Taylor’s illustration is a fine blend of hand drawn line work and vector imagery. Cowboys, skulls, Americana, Native American influences, comic book artists of the sixties and seventies, and bicycles are sources of inspiration that lead to a slick body of work seen online through both his portfolio site www.matttaylor.co.uk and side project Cowboys and Sailors and Skulls. The recent John Le Carré covers are amongst the finest examples of his illustration.

Quality Author, reading Smiley’s People just now and really enjoying it. These covers really fit the writing style, and look great straight off. Good stuff!
