Entrails, like colourful streamers, unfurl and hang out of animal carcasses in the paper crafted creations of Helen Friel. Delicate paper cuts jar with the macabre content of Friel’s personal project and collaboration with photographer Chris TurnerPredictions.

The series illustrates hepatomancy, the practice of predicting the future through the studying of animal viscera, a rite of divination first practiced by the Babylonians over 4000 years ago.

Coupling traditional hand cuts with technology, Helen produces emotive paper crafted pieces often with a dark humour.

Working out of South London the Central Saint Martins Graphic Design graduate can list Vogue UK, Vanity Fair UK, Time,  and Tatler UK amongst her clients.
