Julien Dhivert, Sébastien Riveron, and Valentin Abad founded French design studio Akatre in 2007 and since then have gone onto create distinctive visual identities, installations, and editorial designs marked by their use of bold colours, considered geometry and intricate still life photography.
Banal objects are re-appropiated, balanced or suspended in midair, both alongside and as extensions of the body, in still lifes synonymous with the highly sought after Paris studio’s design. Their unique and highly experimental visual style can be seen in design work that crosses photography, graphic and web design, art, and typography. You can even see the odd exotic animal or two.
Akatre’s first monograph Zero to Five is due to be published September 2012 by Gestalten and will feature both personal work and client work spanning the fields of art, culture, music and fashion.
