Kahori Maki composes her beautiful pencil drawings with a computer to create a rich and dark fantasy world.
I live in my fantasy world. I draw by pencil on paper first, then scan it, then compose on a computer. I like black , green, pink, they are beautiful colours. I also like watercolour ink and pencil, because they excite me.
Maki graduated from the art department of Japan University in 1992 then spent two years studying fine arts at the Art Student League of New York, and later returned to her home country to produce a wide variety of illustrations and installations.
Maki loves reptiles because they have “eternity eyes.” It’s easy to share that same love for her illustrations, drawings of a dreamlike world with no beginning or end existing outside of time.
