All of my life, I have been looking for a decent explanation of reality. I tried science, religion, magic, metaphysics and philosophy.  In 1979, I bought a book called "The Nature of Personal Reality" by Jane Roberts. After the first few pages, I thought "I've heard this crap before" but kept reading it anyway. Soon, it started to make sense, and even better, I was unable to poke holes in it.  Jane Roberts was a psychic who died in 1985.  She channeled an personality named Seth.  She wrote some 14 books and Seth dictated another 8 books over a period of about 20 years. Seth claims to be a personality living outside of physical reality. In his books, he explains much about how reality is structured and how we exist in it. He says that people create their own reality; that we create our bodies, our world and the objects in it.
