Luxury Cruise

Oh, it's another beautiful blessed day
Voyaging aboard the good ship U S A
A fine cruise ship, sturdy and sound
We're blindly sure of where we're bound

The ship of fools has a fine crew
Who mostly stay well out of view
Hopefully competent, with skills diverse
They're here to serve the passengers

Or so I thought, when I bought
My ticket

Now...

Even the very finest luxury vessels do
Carry an unwelcome nasty rat or two
Normally, the cruise is pleasant routine
With the vile vermin remaining unseen

Most of the time, they don't eat a lot
So it's not often that one is caught
The unpleasant event is quickly forgotten
And the stormy seas become calm again

But looking more closely in our stores
We find less behind the cupboard doors
Our fine supplies have gone astray
Where is the fare, for those who pay?

Maybe the Captain will employ 'old reliable'
Because the guests' need to pay is undeniable
Just a little bit more should be enough
To make darned sure we get out of the rough

Passengers or cattle, lately I'm pondering
And I don't know if others are wondering
Whether the crew's only real job is bilking
Since the cows have grown used to the milking

The crew's attitude has changed for the worse
They seem to think that wallet and purse
Are items that we're just carrying until
There's another urgently needed tax bill

So I'm sitting in my chair on the deck
Hoping this great ship won't have a wreck
I'm not optimistic now about this trip...
The rats have long since taken over the ship

Every Spring is a New Road

The Inner realms turn
As our Inner Selves yearn
For a reflection of intent
And a taste of fulfillment

Where else would I be now?
I've time, if you'll allow
I'll tell of Selves behind faces
Seen in thousands of places

Places, people, they're the same
Events I've been, without a name
They mix together in my dreams
Imaginations, taken to extremes

The beloved friends of my youth
Companions, searching for truth
Fell, one by one, along the way
One by one, they've gone astray

I see dear friends, wearing faces
Of names, there are no traces
In the games we share nightly
Essence shines forth brightly

Who are you, nameless playmates
Waiting beyond Dreamland's gates?
I fear the time when it will seem
That this waking life is the dream

And at that time, will I laugh
Because I didn't even know the half?
The answer lies beyond death's door
A threshold I've crossed before

But not just yet
Because I have met
New old friends again
Where have they been?

Once again, Things are turning
But it is not Chaos churning
No, it's turning for my learning
Curiosity is always burning

And curiosity brought him back)
