Emmanuel Polanco pulls together beautifully striking images from the detritus of life. Rough edges, textures, flourishes of ink and visual ephemera are reassembled with a mind tending towards imperfection.
A suggestion of the darker side of human nature permeates much of Polanco’s collage. His use of surrealist imagery is a perfect fit for the texts of the father of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud. Penguin commissioned the images shown here to accompany new editions of his texts.
